When you think of fine dining in Port Douglas, a number of places might spring to mind and now, you can add The Little Larder to the list. Under the culinary guidance of Head Chef, Jack Grundon, the charming Macrossan Street eatery will boast a monthly evening banquet experience different from anywhere in the region.

The innovative pop-up series dubbed ‘Pommygranate’ is the brainchild of Mr Grundon with each event featuring a new delectable 6-course tasting menu expertly designed to take you on a full culinary journey from the moment you sit down at the table.

Hailing from the UK, Mr Grundon worked in kitchens around the world, including a 2 Michelin Star restaurant, before settling in Port Douglas where his recent appointment as Head Chef at The Little Larder almost 3 months ago has allowed him to share his worldly experience through his food and which has been one of the driving forces behind the conception of his pop-up series.

“Our tasting style menu is something that isn’t available in all restaurants in Port and I love the fact that everyone is tasting and experiencing the same thing at the same time,” Mr Grundon said. “I always wanted ‘Pommygranate’ to consider every aspect, which includes delicious food as well as great service for an all-round experience”.

If you’ve dined at The Little Larder in the past, you’ll already be very aware of their impeccable service and commitment to customer satisfaction which is led strongly by Manager, Chris West. A hospitality professional with a stellar resume, Mr West is the smiling face of the front-of-house team ensuring every patron is greeted and treated with the best which only enhances the brilliance coming out of the kitchen.

‘Pommygranate’, a play on words to reflect Mr Grundon’s British heritage, is a chance for the passionate foodie to step outside his usual realm and present innovative dishes set to impress.

“The greatest thing about being a chef is always the end product and knowing that you’ve made something that other people are able to enjoy and sharing that with them.”

The Little Larder, known as a breakfast hot spot, also boasts an enticing lunch menu which is highlighted through the pop-up series, showcasing the talent of the kitchen staff and the passion they share for their craft.

In fact, one member of the chef team was hand-picked by Jack himself who brought him over from the UK after he appeared on the British version of Masterchef Professionals where he finished as a finalist.

“We are already exploring ideas for our new menu which will hopefully be ready for wet season,” Mr Grundon explained.

“It’s great that I’m given free rein to express my creativity as a chef and I’m very excited to explore more local ingredients and give Port Douglas a menu that is different to others and includes lots of quality, locally sourced produce.”
