Celebrating nine decades of educational excellence is a remarkable milestone. With anticipation building, Saint Augustine’s Primary School in Mossman is abuzz with excitement as it gears up to commemorate this achievement with a grand fete.

On Saturday 20 April, the school community is coming together for a memorable event filled with fun, food, and festivities.

A major highlight of the festivities is the unveiling of a special commemorative cookbook, a cherished tradition dating back to the school’s 70th anniversary.

Hannah Santarossa, one of the event organisers, expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “We have merged the 70th and 90th editions to create a remarkable collection featuring beloved recipes from past and present Saints families and parishioners, ranging from delectable sweets to savoury delights.”

The cookbook has already generated substantial interest, surpassing initial sales expectations with nearly 100 copies pre-ordered. Limited copies will be available for purchase during the event, with additional orders planned to meet demand.

But the cookbook is just one part of the Fete. Each grade at Saint Augustine’s is running its own stall, offering a variety of games, treats, and activities for attendees.

Food trucks and rides add to the carnival atmosphere, while students showcase their talents with musical performances throughout the evening. Wait-a-while musical duo will provide the evening’s entertainment.

Various community groups are also eagerly joining in the celebrations with the Hospital Foundation offering lollies and baked goods, while the Leukaemia Foundation is hosting a lamington drive, among many other organisations.

The festivities are scheduled from 4.00 pm to 9.00 pm on Saturday, April 20th, at St Augustine’s Primary School, and entry is free.
