6. 2017-08-20 Black Mountain Road, Kuranda to Port Douglas 64km Kuranda to Port Douglas Trail Race and Relay 20 August 2017

This point-to-point race is incorporated in the Mowbray National Park within the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area. It starts just off Kennedy Highway in Kuranda and follows Black Mountain Road through native rainforest, open eucalyptus forest, pine plantations and over picturesque creeks. The finish is on Four Mile Beach, Port Douglas. The tropical rainforest is home to the endangered southern cassowary, a flightless bird that can grow to two metres in height - you might see one! Early Bird entries end at 9.00pm on 25 May. Late Fees apply from 31 July. Registrations close 9.00pm, 7 August.

14. 2017-10-14 Port Douglas Sports Complex to Cape Tribulation Jungle Ride for KIND The Jungle Ride was created in the hope that it would encourage and inspire ordinary people, including children, and those with less athletic experience, to step outside of their comfort zones and challenge themselves, while at the same time helping to raise funds for these young people in urgent need of help. The ride caters for riders of all levels of ability and fitness including recreational cyclists right up to elite athletes.
