The Crystalbrook Superyacht Marina has been announced as a finalist in the Marina of the Year awards hosted by Club Marina and conducted by the Marina Industries Association (MIA).

The marina in Port Douglas is up against the Rivergate Marina and Shipyard in Brisbane in the Commercial Marina under 140 Boats category.

MIA CEO Colin Bransgrove said all the finalists should be incredibly proud making it though the judging rounds to be named finalists.

“All entrants are to be congratulated in taking the time to reflect on their business direction; their plans, actions and outcomes and to document this in a succinct manner for the judges consideration” he said.

The marina in Port Douglas won the award in 2017 when it was named 'The Reef Marina', about a month before it was purchased by Crystalbrook Collection.

Crystalbrook Superyacht Marina General Manager, Robert Cruz, said the recognition of being a finalist in the awards is a great thing for the business.

“It’s great news for the marina and it’s recognition of a lot of hard work the team does around here in regards to our primary goal of providing exceptional service to our customers,” he said.

“It’s an extensive application process that takes into account things like customer service, internal operations, safety protocols and inspections, community engagement and lots more.

“It’s about proving an experience, the judges look at what the whole of business is like and includes significant retail and marina visitor experience.

“It’s something we at the marina we have actively worked on and have a great relationship with our retailers.”

Mr Cruz said it’s an honour to be named a finalist and said it’ll be a close call by the judges to pick a winner in the fewer than 140 boats category.

“It’s hard to say how we will go, Rivergate are a fantastic facility and we work with them to service yachts to come up here and we recommend each other all the time so it’s going to be close on the night,” he said.

The winners of each category will be announced at a black-tie dinner and they will receive a trophy to be presented by MIA Chairman Andrew Chapman and a senior Club Marine representative.

Finalists will also be awarded for their achievements with a certificate of recognition of their outstanding work and dedication.

The black tie Club Marine Marina of the Year Awards Dinner will be held on the last night of the Marinas19 International Conference and Trade Exhibition on the Gold Coast on Tuesday, 28 May.
