Traffic backed up on Captain Cook Highway after car crash
One adult and one child have been taken to Cairns Hospital in stable conditions following a car crash between Ellis Beach and Wangetti earlier today.
An adult female suffered from back pain as a result of the crash and a male primary-school aged child also suffered back pain and a possible head injury.
The scene of the crash was made safe at about 1.15pm today and traffic is beginning to move again along the Captain Cook Highway.
This crash is in addition to a single vehicle roll-over at about 9.00am today in about the same spot on the highway.
Two people were able to exit the car without assistance from emergency services after it rolled onto a beachand no one was seriously injured.
Drivers are urged to drive to the conditions and be aware roads will be slippery following heavy rain overnight and showers during the day.
Emergency services are en route to a two vehicle car crash on the Captain Cook Highway near Ellis Beach.
The crash was reported at about 12.10pm today with reports of one person possibly trapped in a vehicle.
Motorists are advised to take caution in the area and follow directions of emergency service crews.
