Three-metre croc closes Four Mile Beach
Four Mile Beach is currently closed after a three-metre crocodile was spotted by lifeguards just after 9:30 this morning.
The lifeguard on duty said he spotted the animal as it came around the headlands passing the beach approximately 100 metres out from the stinger net.
The water was promptly evacuated with three people swimming at the time.
The crocodile was last seen swimming south towards the Mowbray River.
As is standard procedure the beach will remain closed for four hours after the last sighting of the animal.
This is the first time a crocodile has been spotted along the popular beach since July 2019, which was the only sighting at this location for the year.
