Night works to close the Rex Range
The Mossman – Mt Molloy Road (Rex Range) will be closed to traffic for night works from Sunday 10 May to Wednesday 13 May, weather permitting.
The Department of Transport and Main Roads (DTMR ) has advised that the road will be closed between 9:00pm and 4:00am each night during the work.
DTMR Regional Director Sanjay Ram said the night closures would allow for line marking to be carried out with minimal traffic impacts.
“The tight corners on Rex Range can make it difficult for traffic, especially heavy vehicles, to negotiate the newly painted, centre line markings,” Mr Ram said.
“Temporarily closing the road while these works are carried out reduces the risk of wet paint being smeared across the road.”
Mr Ram said motorists should consider an alternate route.
“It’s recommended road users detour via Kuranda Range Road and Kennedy Highway,” he said.
“We appreciate the community’s patience while we carry out these important works.”

DTMR is also undertaking safety upgrades and investigation works to several intersections on Captain Cook Highway between Port Douglas and Mossman.
