A hydroponics room with cannabis plants growing inside has been located by police on a Julatten property.


A 58-year-old Julatten man has been charged with drug-related offences after police attended his residence on Tuesday 19 May in relation to unrelated suspicious activity in the area.

It will be alleged that police attended the property at approximately 11:00am when they uncovered a hydroponics room with cannabis plants growing inside.

At about 1:20pm, detectives from Atherton Criminal Investigation Branch executed a search warrant at the property.

It will be alleged that the detectives located 17 cannabis plants in one room, 84 seedlings in another room, one bottle of cannabis oil, and 1.621kgs of dried cannabis in a freezer.

The man is scheduled to appear in the Mareeba Magistrates Court on 17 August, charged with one count each of possessing dangerous drugs exceeding schedule three, produce dangerous drugs exceeding schedule three, and possess anything used in commission of crime.

This is the second time in a week police have seized cannabis plants from a Julatten property with a 41- year-old man arrested last week after police allegedly uncovered a large cannabis crop on a Black Mountain road property.
