Mossman man charged after alleged domestic violence attacks

Mossman police have charged a 29-year-old local man with multiple domestic violence offences after he allegedly attacked a woman on Monday night.


A police spokesperson said it will be alleged the man seriously assaulted a 31-year-old woman, who was known to him, multiple times around 11:00pm on Monday 5 July at a Thomas Street address.

“Around 7:15pm yesterday (July 6), police located and arrested the man on Front Street and charged him with 10 offences including five counts of assault occasioning bodily harm (DV offence), two counts of common assault (DV offence) and one count each of contravening a domestic violence order, possessing a knife in a public space and wilful damage,” police said.

“The man’s bail was opposed, and he will remain in police custody.”

He is scheduled to appear at Cairns Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
