Aussie band Lime Cordiale has been added to the stellar line-up of Australia biggest country music festival of 2021 - Savannah in the Round – which is set to take over the Far North later this year.

The three-day festival will see over 40 artists take the stage at the Kerribee Park Rodeo Grounds in Mareeba on the Queen’s Birthday long weekend, October 1-3.

The exciting late addition to the festival’s genre-bending Friday Night lineup, Lime Cordiale’s unique brand of indie pop joins forces with country, blues, roots and rock supplied by the likes of Brad Cox, Casey Barnes, Busby Marou, The Wolfe Brothers, Shannon Noll and Southbound, offering festival-goers a live sample box of top quality Aussie entertainment they won’t find anywhere else.

They join a long list of Australian chart-toppers and industry legends taking to Savannah in the Round’s three stages, including John Williamson, Lee Kernaghan, Tex Perkins ‘The Man in Black’, Troy Cassar-Daley, Graeme Connors, The McClymonts, Fanny Lumsden, Kirsty Lee Akers, Christie Lamb, Jasmine Rae, Darlinghurst, Jetty Road, The Buckleys, Rachael Fahim, Missy Lancaster and David Hudson, along with a who’s who of the hottest new talent and good-time outback favourites.

Having just announced the biggest national tour of their careers, Lime Cordiale will now be adding Far North Queensland to their travel itineraries, as they make their way north for one of Australia’s biggest 2021 music events - Savannah in the Round.

With the Sydney duo’s national tour set to kick off on 9 October in Brisbane, punters lucky enough to snap up a ticket to Savannah in the Round will be among the first people in the world to experience the band’s new live show in their only North Queensland concert.

“Chugg Music is very excited that two of the hottest acts in Oz right now, Casey Barnes and Lime Cordiale, are able to head north for Savannah in the Round; it’s great to see such a quality festival in North Queensland and to see a festival go the route of great festivals like Coachella and Glastonbury, mixing up the genres of music - I know the audience will love the shows”, said renowned promoter Michael Chugg.

Lime Cordiale’s infectious performances and genuine interactions with their fans has made them one of Australia’s buzziest bands. It’s a fact that was reflected in July 2020 when they scored their first #1 album on the ARIA Charts with 14 Steps to a Better You. The album chalked up an incredible eight ARIA Award nominations, making them the most nominated act of 2020, landing them their debut ARIA Award for Best Breakthrough Artist.

Soon afterward, in January’s triple j Hottest 100 countdown, the band scored an unprecedented five tracks in the top 26. The band’s live performance is the stuff of legend.

Their shows have been touted as “raucous” by The AU Review, and “triumphant… a therapeutic musical extravaganza guaranteed to cure those post lockdown hangovers” by Beat.

The event will not only boast its musical line up, but also host an Indigenous cultural program, community entertainment, local produce and goods, paddock to plate, and a full range of accommodation options, from drive-in campsites and luxury ‘glamping’ tents right through to five star options and transfers through accommodation partners in Cairns and Port Douglas.

“As we unite and recover from COVID-19, major events like Savannah in the Round are an
opportunity to celebrate our resilience, while showcasing homegrown artists and contributing to regional economies,” Member for Cook Cynthia Lui said.

“I hope Queensland and interstate attendees extend their stay beyond the long weekend, supporting local tourism operators, while exploring the many natural splendours of the Tropical North.”

Tourism Tropical North Queensland Chief Executive Officer Mark Olsen said Savannah in the Round would give country music fans a compelling reason to holiday in the Cairns and Great Barrier Reef region.

“A dose of great Aussie music combined with a week or more exploring the accessible outback, the Great Barrier Reef and the world’s oldest rainforest will help beat the pandemic blues,” he said.
