The local tourism body, Tourism Port Douglas Daintree (TPDD) is seeking community feedback as it develops a Destination Tourism Plan for the region.

TPDD has launched a survey to invite locals to have a say in the strategy which will provide a roadmap for the future of tourism in the Port Douglas and Daintree region.

TPDD CEO, Tara Bennett, said the purpose of the survey is to gain insights and desires of the tourism industry and Douglas community to increase visitor’s length of stay, overnight visitor expenditure, and dispersal.

“A Destination Tourism Plan is designed to guide sustainable growth and help ensure the viability of the tourism industry, enabling it to become resilient to external shocks and changes in a dynamic and competitive market,” she said.

“Through this process, we aim to build a strategy which shares the vision, identifies tourism gaps and opportunities for future investment in the Douglas Shire.”

Anyone with an interest in the Douglas Shire, whether it be business owners, residents, or outside region ratepayers is encouraged to complete the survey by Monday 15 March.

By completing the survey, you can go into the draw to win a $100 gift voucher at your choice of local cafe at either the, Port Douglas Salsa Bar & Grill, Mossman Beachwoods Café, or Cape Tribulation Turtle Rock Café.

The survey takes about 10 - 15 minutes to complete.

Ms Bennett said the survey is “the chance for the community of Douglas to have their say on the future direction of tourism and identify the key priorities to see the industry and region thrive.

“Consultation is a critical stage in developing a plan that captures the aspirations and insights of everyone in the community.

“If people have more to share, they can contact Tourism Port Douglas Daintree direct with a submission,” she said.
