Craiglie-based limousine and coach company, Exemplar Coaches and Limousines are leading the charge of Douglas Shire businesses getting their staff fully vaccinated for Covid-19.

As the Shire’s longest established transport company (28 years), Exemplar says it wants to lead the way for the community in the fight against Covid-19.

“Since day one we have taken the threat of Covid-19 very seriously and we have had a range of practices in use that help protect our customers against the spread of Covid,” said Exemplar owner and GM, Cheryl Wellham.

“Recently we decided to take another step forward by giving badges to our drivers once they are fully vaccinated. This was a suggestion from one of our drivers which we took on board and we think it’s a fantastic idea,” she said.

According to Cheryl, 70 percent of Exemplar’s staff are fully vaccinated with the remaining staff waiting for their first or second jab. The only exception to this is one staff member who can’t be vaccinated at this stage for health reasons.

“The goal is to provide peace of mind to Exemplar’s customers by informing them that when they get in a vehicle with an Exemplar driver and see that badge, they know that they are in the best possible hands,” Cheryl said.

One such driver is Dennis Kerr who has worked at Exemplar for 4 years. Dennis is now completely vaccinated and sporting the new Exemplar badge.

“We’re taking it very seriously, I’ve had my injections and I'm ready to go. We have a rigorous process here where cars are cleaned pre and post-pickup and there’s a strict protocol to follow around masks at the airport and during the trip,” Kerr said.

“Exemplar are a fantastic company and very supportive of their staff and that’s really what you want. Through that you get loyalty from your drivers and that’s what it’s about.
