Testing time as Covid cases rise in the shire

The Douglas Shire, like many regional destinations around Australia, faces the spread of covid for the first time.

The Douglas Shire and the Daintree face challenging times as the pandemic spreads with more people testing positive to the virus.

Although this cannot be confirmed as Queensland Health is not giving fixed numbers, it is believed we have reached the milestone of more than 100 affected individuals.

Port Douglas is faced with a dilemma in that there are many unvaccinated people, and there is a contingent of these who belong to the anti-vax believers.

Those who are opting out of being vaccinated include employees in the food and beverage industry. Their decision has forced many pubs, restaurants to close or operate on fewer days.
