With only five days to go, police are reminding locals to ensure they are aware of the changed traffic conditions that come with the Cairns Airport IRONMAN event.

Barricades and construction of marquees and event structures has already commenced along the Esplanade and in the Pier carpark. Access to certain areas will be restricted.

The Captain Cook Highway between Cairns City and Port Douglas will be affected on race day (June 12) with changed traffic conditions and some complete road closures.

Please ensure you plan your trip. If you are travelling to or from Port Douglas you will need to delay travel or access alternate routes. Expect delays if you are travelling on the Captain Cook Highway.
