The Crocs head into this week’s clash against only one of the two teams they are yet to beat this season full of confidence after a comprehensive dismantling of South Cairns Cutters at Fretwell Park.

The match was good as over by the end of the third term as brilliant coast to coast transition footy helped the visitors kick two late goals to take a seven-goal buffer heading into the final quarter.

While the Cutters kicked the first of the final term it was Port who remained in control winning most of the clearances and contests to eventually run out 16-19-115 to 8-12-60 winners.

The dominate 55-point road win is perfect timing for Brad Cooper’s men and a real opportunity to keep building ahead of this week’s home contest against the Bulldogs at the showground.

“I’m really pleased with that result, we knew coming here that the Cutters would make it a really physical contest, so we had to withstand that, and still play our brand of footy and I thought we did that,” Crocs captain Kye Chapple told Newsport at Fretwell Park.

“We wanted to play a fast style of game today and to make sure we won as many contests as possible, that was the key for us today.

“We know next week will be another big contest. The Dogs’ got us a few weeks’ back in the wet, and they are a danger team, so we’ll enjoy this win tonight then put all our focus on next week.”

Earlier the Crocs lead by 13 points at quarter time, by a similar margin at the main break then exploded in the premiership quarter to enjoy a 95-51 advantage, from there they were never headed.

Nic Salter, Dylan Winton, Ethan McCullough and Chris Colombo were amongst the Crocs best players.

In other major news across the competition North Cairns Tigers continue to celebrate after recording their first win in 1510 days after overcoming the Hawks 69-67.

In other results Cairns Saints lead by as much as seven goals against Cairns City Lions before the reigning premiers stormed home to claim an 89-83 win at Griffiths Park.

Meantime in CDRL action Mossman turned in a dominate display to overpower Southern Suburbs in Gordonvale.

The visitors led 30-4 at one point before eventually running out comfortable 42-20 winners.
Davin Crampton, Budhagi Gibuma and Aggie Gibuma were amongst the try scorers for the Sharks.

Lastly, JCU proved way too strong for Port in their FNQ Rugby clash, beating the home side 68-12 at Raider Park.
