Images have been released in relation to the search and rescue operation of four people near Coleman River, south of Pormpuraaw on the Cape York Peninsula
The 23-year-old man, 23-year-old woman, 2-year-old girl, as well as a 19-year-old man who wasn’t initially mentioned have been located safe and well after Queensland Government Air Helicopter and fixed wing aerial searches.
Queensland Police remind people travelling need to take precautions, notify friends and family of their plans so if they don’t make it an alarm can be raised.
It is important for people to carry food and water and to stay with their vehicle if they break down.
Kowanyama Police Officer in Charge, Acting Senior Sergeant Rob Morriss, said people who wander off to seek help run the risk of perishing if they do not have the adequate supplies or knowledge on how to stay safe.
