The Sharks face another stern test of their premiership credentials when they clash against the Kangaroos at Vico Oval on Sunday afternoon.

Both the Sharks (3rd) and Kangaroos (6th) sit on eight points after five matches with only Mossman’s marginally superior for and against separating the two sides.

Mossman will be fresh after their round six bye while the Kangaroos will look to return to their winning ways after a last up 40-18 loss to a resurgent Atherton outfit.

Prior to the bye Mossman lost a narrow game on the road to Innisfail 26-22.

“That was a pretty frustrating loss to Innisfail, we shot ourselves in the foot basically, we made too many errors and just didn’t complete our sets,” Mossman coach Joel Marama told Newsport.

“We still took a lot of positives away from that game, we have a lot of young players, and they continue to learn about what it takes compete at this level.”

With that result in the rear view mirror the Sharks are now determined to overcome their next opponent.
“The Kangaroos are very hard to beat at home,” Marama confirmed.

“However, our focus this week has been on ourselves and trying to control what we can control.
“Our completion rates have to be better; in order to stay in matches we need to maintain possession for a lot longer.

“We know the Kangaroos are a very strong outfit, our priority is to play for 80 minutes and get into the contest.”

Meantime, in AFL, Port Douglas gets a well-deserved bye this weekend.

The Crocs have shown a ton of character in recent weeks.

Two weeks’ ago the Crocs overcame the Saints to claim a tight win and last weekend they narrowly went down to reigning premiers Cairns City Lions in a hard fought and exciting contest.
Lastly, in FNQ rugby action the Raiders will chase back-to-back wins when they clash with Penrhyn in Port Douglas on Saturday afternoon.

The Raiders put in their best performance of the season last week against the Bulls to narrowly escape with a three-point win and will start favourites against the visitors.
