16 year-old charged with manslaughter following roadway death
DEVELOPMENTS

A 16-year-old Cairns teenager has been refused bail and will face Cairns Childrens Court after being formally charged with manslaughter in relation to the death of a Manoora man just days ago in Cairns.
The charges come after Police allege the 16-year-old chased the 48-year-old onto the intersection of Alfred Street and Mayers Street, Manunda, before he pushed and assaulted him on the road last Saturday night.
Police will further allege at around 7.45pm the 48-year-old man was left on the road and a short time later was hit by a passing vehicle.
Emergency services arrived a short time later but the 48-year-old man was declared deceased at the scene.
Police will allege the teenager and 48-year-old man were known to each other.
Investigations are ongoing.
