Outspoken Douglas Shire croc expert and advocate Tommy Hayes has slammed irresponsible fishing influencers who he suggests are risking their lives in known croc habitat just to film their adventures for bragging rights purposes.

Hayes himself took to social media in recent days to question the motives of those who are fishing in knee deep known croc waters, taking fishing videos and filming large crocodile tracks at different locations across Australia.

Hayes said he remains mad at the risks being taken by fishing influencers and that, frustratingly if an influencer were to be taken by a croc it would result in the consequent death of the animal – something Tommy says just shouldn’t happen.

“I’ve been sent videos in the last couple of weeks of people (fishing influencers) 'accidentally' coming across big crocs that are in spots that are very well know for crocodiles,” Tommy said.

“…There’s also videos of them fishing in a spot that there are crocodile tracks all over the sand and they’re in thigh deep water…”

Meantime, Mr Hayes is one of many Douglas Shire croc admirers that are still seeking justice for the two crocs thought deliberately killed in the Douglas Shire earlier this year.

A croc was found beheaded at Cow Bay some months ago, and just months later, ‘Lizze’ the Queen of the Daintree was found deceased, thought deliberately killed, by the side of a local jetty in the Daintree.

Shortly after her death a man called a local tour operator, making a deliberate taunt or admission that the caller themself was responsible for both deaths.

Just weeks ago a $10,000 reward was put together by Community Representation of Crocodiles (C.R.O.C.) and Crimestoppers which will be gifted to anyone who can help identify and leads to the arrest of the person or person(s) found responsible for the alleged crimes.
