Intrigue as husband and wife duo a possibility for Douglas Shire Councillor roles in 2024
DOUGLAS DECIDES

It’s the husband and wife combination we didn’t know we needed but is sure to provide some intrigue ahead of next year’s local government elections.
However, as it stands it remains a legitimate possibility the Douglas Shire may well have an actual couple that fills two Councillor chairs when all is said and done come the middle of next March.
Newsport understands there is growing momentum that well known Douglas Shire identity and Temptations café owner Pia McKeown is considering putting her hand up for a Douglas Shire Councillor role in 2024.
With husband Peter looking to most likely extend his current Councillor tenure that would mean quite possibly, if the cards fall the right way, the couple would be in the joint, unique position of working together and with others in a formal capacity for the ongoing betterment of the Douglas Shire.
Newsport approached Pia for comment.
“All I’ll say for now is that I’m thinking about it, but very honestly, we’ll see what happens,” Ms McKeown told Newsport about her future Councillor ambitions.
“I’m genuinely undecided at this point.”
In other Council news Cr Noli told Newsport she remains undecided about her future Councillor intentions, while Cr Zammataro is likely to seek re-election in 2024.
