Douglas decides - clear winner for Newsport splash park poll
THE WINNER IS?

If the results of a snap Newsport poll is anything to go by then the people of the Douglas Shire have spoken - they know exactly which Port Douglas location they want a much-discussed splash park to call home.
Just days ago Newsport put the question to local readers and residents; what location would you like the future Port Douglas splash park to be built? Jalunbu Park or Reynolds Park?
Newsport received 223 votes for the question, with Jalunbu Park (157 votes) coming out in front ahead of Reynolds Park (66 votes).
More formally Douglas Shire Council will stage community engagement activations on February 18+19 to gauge and obtain official public feedback about separate aspects of the overall concept:
- The preferred location of the splash park;
- The look and feel of the splash park, and the level of support for a public swimming facility in Port Douglas;
- and whether local residents want a 50-metre lap pool, or free form lagoon.
Those that cannot attend the come and play activities at Jalunbu Park or the family movie night at Reynolds Park on February 18 to lodge their feedback about the precinct can do so at Port Douglas markets the following day.
Alternatively community members can also lodge their feedback and views via a public form which Council said will be accessible from February 17.
Thank you!
