Police have renewed their appeal for witnesses in the wake of a fatal traffic crash in Mareeba.

Initial investigations indicate shortly before 5.00pm last Friday a dual cab utility and a motorcycle collided on the Kennedy Highway.

The motorcycle rider, a 61-year-old Atherton woman, sustained critical injuries and died at the scene.

A number of people stopped and provided assistance to the woman before emergency services arrived.

Police are specifically hoping to a speak to two women and a man who left the scene shortly after the arrival of emergency services.

Investigators are appealing to those witnesses to contact police. Those with dashcam vision of either vehicle before the incident are also urged to come forward.

The Forensic Crash Unit continues to investigate the incident.
