Wonga Beach pair to front court after chaotic night
COURT APPEARANCE

Two Wonga Beach men behind the alleged serious assault on two Police officers just 48 hours ago will face Cairns Magistrate court later today.
Police will allege that on January 2, around 10.30pm, two officers responded to a noise complaint on Oleander Dr, Wonga Beach where they were soon confronted by the resident and a second male.
What ensued next was something out of a movie as the occupants allegedly became quickly aggressive, arming themselves with weapons, which led Police to have to withdraw from the residence for their own safety.
“A 34-year-old Wonga Beach man was later located and arrested in a nearby park. It will be alleged the man attempted to resist arrest,” a QPS spokesperson said.
“He has been charged with two counts of serious assault police, one count each of assault police, obstruct police, drunk or disorderly in a licenced premise, possession of a knife in a public place.
“A second 34-year-old Wonga Beach man was later arrested and charged with two counts of serious assault police."
