Kye Chapple can lay claim to have enjoyed one of the best careers in country footy after achieving a stunning milestone for his beloved Port Douglas Crocs in their game against the Cutters this afternoon.

Appearing in his 308th career game and in kicking his second goal for the day, Chapple, who has won multiple premierships with the Crocs, slotted his landmark 1000th career goal – an incredible feat in anyone’s language.

The centre half forward, full forward, a mainstay of the FNQ Aussie Rules powerhouse for many years has made a sizeable contribution to the club over a sustained period and no one would begrudge the forward an opportunity to celebrate his time in the sun today.

A portion of the crowd ran onto the field to congratulate Chapple after he kicked the goal which came a few minutes from quarter time. This is Chapple's 9th season with the Crocs. He's played 148 games in the AFL Cairns competition and averaged 5.1 goals per game during that time.

Chapple's former long term coach Brad Cooper took to social media before the game to pay tribute to the loyal club servant.

"Two sure things, he will get it done and it won't be from a holding a man, chopping the arms, in the back, or whack to the back of the scon (sic)," Cooper said.

"Well deserved and all earnt, has got it done when injured and most importantly in big games.

"Champion on and off the park."

The Crocs led 21-3 against the Cutters nearing quarter time at the Croc Pit.
