Douglas Shire residents remain disgusted after a Port Douglas mother was allegedly spat at, kicked, verbally abused and pushed from her bicycle by three females during a ride along well-known local streets yesterday afternoon.

The daughter of the mother concerned is still in disbelief this morning regarding the alleged incident; she took to social media to recount her mother’s version of events.

The daughter who wishes to remain anonymous said her mother was enjoying a peaceful bike ride along Port Douglas Road, before turning onto Old Port road, when things turned ugly.

“We have been locals to the Douglas Shire going on 15 years,” the daughter began.

“Today (Yesterday afternoon) my mother was (allegedly) assaulted and degraded whilst riding her bike, by three female tourists on E-scooters.

“She was followed from a distance for several kilometres, before being pushed off the pathway by one female.

“The same girl then spat in her face, before a second came up and started kicking her.

“All three began an onslaught of insults and profanities.

“She threatened them that she lives nearby, that she would call the Police, to which one responded, ‘We’re tourists, you survive off us’.

“My family are all still very shocked. As a daughter, I am outraged. As a local, I am outraged. As a woman, I am sickened. This is disgusting behaviour.

“To come on holiday, and turn leisure time into attacking a vulnerable, middle-aged mother along the streets, for no good reason.

“One’s own audacity to implicate that Port Douglas would not survive without degenerates, such as themselves…

“Just letting everyone here in Port Douglas know, there are three Aussie female tourists (all early to mid 20’s) holidaying for the wrong reasons.

“Using our town to act as animals and turn a blind eye to the law. Praying no one else becomes a victim of assault to these three."

The incident was reported to local Police. It’s understood Police are looking to identify what E-scooter company the alleged offenders hired the e- scooters from.

Anyone who has dashcam footage or witnessed the incident are urged to contact Douglas Police.
