Douglas Shire residents have the chance to join thousands of fellow Queenslanders by choosing to opt-in and apply for a Queensland digital drviers' license.

The development comes as more than 100,000 Queenslanders successfully took to the digital license verifier app over the past 48 hours to gain their newly acquired, but not compulsory, digital license.

Queensland’s digital licence is the only digital licence in Australia that is aligned to international standards for mobile driver licences," a State government spokesperson told Newsport.

“I’m so excited for all Queenslanders to be able to download and use the app," Minister for Transport and Main Roads, Mark Bailey said.

“Nothing is more important than the safety and security of your private information, which is why we put the app through rigorous privacy and information security testing, including two pilot tests in Townsville and on the Fraser Coast, to ensure your identity is always protected.

“We worked with our counterparts in other Australian states that have digital licences, to ensure we learnt from the way they developed and released their apps.

“Queensland’s digital licence app will set the standard for mobile driver licence apps across Australia and the world, and is yet another way that Queensland continues to be an innovative pioneer in the digital space."

To get your digital licence, search for ‘Queensland Digital Licence’ in your iOS or Android app store, download the app, create your Queensland Digital Identity (QDI), and you are underway.
