HEARTBREAK: Two people dead, one person critical and three others injured after horror car accident near Cooktown

Two people have died, another remains critical and three other passengers suffered minor injuries following a horror single vehicle car accident yesterday afternoon south west of Cooktown.
Police said a station wagon carrying six people was travelling north bound on the Mulligan Highway at Lakeland, near Boggy Creek Bridge around 3.38pm before it suddenly left the road and rolled a number of times.
Police heartbreakingly confirmed the driver of the station wagon, and one passenger died at the scene, while another passenger was flown to Cairns in a critical condition.
The remaining three passengers were transported to Cooktown Hospital with minor injuries.
The Forensic crash unit continues to investigate the terrible accident.

- A woman in her 40s was located deceased at the scene.
- A male in his 20s was located deceased at the scene.
- A male in his 40s was flown to Cairns hospital with signifigant pelvis, chest and head injuries in a critical condition.
- A male in his 20s was transported to Cooktown hospital in a stable condition with back injuries.
- A female in her 20s was transported to Cooktown hospital with back injuries.
- A female patient sustained minor injuries and did not require further treatment or transport.
