The latest round of repair works to the aging Daintree Ferry are done as the debate around whether a pernament bridge that stretches across the river is the best option going forward continues to be discussed around the Douglas Shire.

The most recent works to the ferry involved improvements to four davits which Council said are “used to raise and lower the ferry’s ramps”.

The ferry is now again operating from 5am to midnight.

“The community can now look forward to a more reliable service due to the repairs,” Mayor Michael Kerr said.
