BUSINESS FEATURE

A dedicated newcomer to our town, Paul Cahill, has recently assumed the role of General Manager at Mantra PortSea Port Douglas. Committed to delivering heartfelt guest service, his arrival in our picturesque town appears almost serendipitous.
“I’ve always had an appreciation for the stunning natural beauty, delectable food, and vibrant atmosphere of North Queensland, especially in Port Douglas,” Mr Cahill shared.
Bringing with him 20 years of experience, Mr Cahill’s hospitality journey started in his home city Perth, where he worked his way through the ranks and eventually led him to become a General Manager in Mayfair, London.
Upon returning to Australia, he served as the General Manager at Mantra Terrace in Brisbane before embarking on a 50,000 kilometres journey around the country, rediscovering life’s core values following a personal loss.
Now, firmly rooted in Queensland, he has discovered a new home in Port Douglas, forging deep ties with the community and the Douglas shire.
Guest service that comes from the heart
In his early days at Mantra PortSea Port Douglas, Mr Cahill recognised the resort’s tropical charm and the staff’s unwavering dedication to delighting guests.
“This being my first experience with a resort-style property, it presents an exciting new challenge,” he said. “My open, transparent, and proactive management style is well-suited to this property.
“The resort’s greatest strength lies in the exceptional and talented team members devoted to delivering an outstanding guest experience.
“With over two decades in the hospitality industry, I still love the feeling of collaborating with our team members to deliver a memorable, authentic, and genuine guest experience.
“Openness, honesty, and treating everyone with respect, care, and warmth goes a long way in my book.
“Helping grow our team members to truly care for our guests and owners and delivering guest service that comes from the heart will certainly set us apart from other properties in the region.
“Being an integral part of the local community is also a key component and something that is always at the forefront.”
In terms of future plans, Mr Cahill confirmed that he plans to enhance the property by rejuvenating some of our pool areas with new tiling, “providing a fantastic experience for guests enjoying one of our three pools”.
