Crocs finals hopes hang in the balance after tough weekend
ROUND 16

The Port Douglas Crocs faced a tough weekend as both the Senior Men's and Women's teams fell short against the Tigers at Watsons Oval. With just three rounds remaining in the season, the Crocs senior men’s division are under pressure to solidify their position to ensure a second chance in the finals series as it draws closer.
The Crocs took on a quick and skilled Tigers side who came out strong from the start holding Port Douglas to just one goal at half time. Port Douglas managed a comeback after the break, rallying to kick five goals in a row but despite their best efforts, the Tigers proved too strong finishing with a 15.7.97 to 9.5.59 victory.
With a bye on the horizon for this weekend, the Crocs will hope the week off gives extra recovery time to names like Patrenko, Fairclough and Moore who all missed this week's match due to injury.
The Women’s team also faced a formidable Tigers outfit, finishing with a scoreline of 12.9.81 to 1.3.9. The Crocs managed a goal in the second half but couldn’t match the Tigers’ consistent performance. Despite the loss, the team’s effort and perseverance are clear indicators that they are laying the groundwork for future success.
Sunday saw a wet and muddy Qualifying Final for the Under 15s against South Cairns Cutters at Crathern Park. The team put in a valiant effort despite having an undermanned side but ultimately couldn’t hold off the fresh legs of the Cutters who came out victorious with a 45 - 28 win.
