The Port Douglas Crocs have secured third place on the ladder with a dominant 82-point victory over Trinity Beach Bulldogs this weekend. The Crocs took the lead early but struggled to convert in front of goal. Inconsistencies saw them with a lot of missed opportunities and left them only 30 points up at the main break despite holding possession for most of the half.

The second half saw the Crocs lose midfielder Sam Fairclough to injury, adding to their woes with Harvey Moore and Jared Petrenko already sidelined for the match. However, the Crocs rallied, with Liam Brandt continuing his outstanding form in the midfield, likely adding another three votes to his tally. Josh Lea, Brodie Francis and Brett McKeown also all played a vital role.

With key forward Kye Chapple out this week, Lee Staple stood up to the plate making a significant impact upon his return to the forward line, kicking five, four of which were in the last quarter, contributing to the Crocs' final score of 16.19.115.

The Bulldogs could only manage 5.3.33, as the Crocs' relentless pressure proved too much.

With this victory, the Crocs are firmly in the finals, but without the luxury of a second chance, they'll need to sharpen their accuracy and delivery inside the forward 50 if they want to walk out onto Cazalys on grand final day.

Sunday saw the Under 13s take on the South Cairns Cutters in the premiership match. The young team put in a gallant effort going into the major break just eight points down however, the Cutters came out firing in the second half finishing the game as victors with a 43-point win and the final score reading 10.4.64 to the Crocs 3.3.21.

Despite the loss, the coaching staff shared their pride in the team on the year and their efforts in making it to the final game of the year.
