There’s a special thrill that comes with seeing your own face in the newspaper, and for Sam at Kubirri Aged Care Centre, this moment was truly special. As he flipped through the pages of the latest edition of Newsport Print, his eyes lit up when he spotted his own smiling face staring back at him.

When asked about his excitement upon spotting his photo in the latest edition of Newsport Print, he shared, “It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and it makes me very happy and excited.”

Fellow residents quickly gathered to congratulate him, eager to pick up copies of the newspaper featuring their very own famous Sam.

Among the well-wishers was Margaret, another resident at Kubirri Aged Care Centre.

“I always get excited to see if anyone I know is featured in the newspaper,” she said. “It’s such a joy to see familiar faces and friends on those pages, it really brightens my day.”

Margaret’s enthusiasm reflects a shared sentiment among the residents who appreciate the connection that local news provides.

The print extension introduced by Newsport has been a welcome addition for many community members, particularly those who prefer physical copies or find it difficult to navigate online platforms.

Individuals across the shire have embraced this initiative, improving their access to local news and strengthening the sense of community.
