A 48-year-old Condon man has died following a single vehicle rollover near Mossman early this morning.

A Forensic Crash Unit investigation has started into how and why the Toyota Hilux driver hit an embankment and rolled on the Cassowary Creek Bridge in the vicinity of Carbine rd at around 5.45am this morning.

A portion of the Captain Cook Highway near Mossman was closed from around 6.12am until around 9.20am as emergency services personnel and Police attended the scene this morning.

Local diversions remained in place via Bonnie Doon Road during this period.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage is urged to contact police.

Meantime, QAS confirmed a female was taken to Mossman-Purpose Health Service from a private address in a stable condition at around 1.39am this morning for a suspected snake bite.
