Little hands clean up Four Mile Beach
CLEAN UP

Just days ago the amazing Douglas Shire community gathered at Four Mile Beach in Port Douglas for Clean Up Australia Day which turned into a fantastic family affair.
Families united to support this crucial event, fostering a sense of togetherness and environmental responsibility.
Several little explorers from C & K Port Douglas Community Kindergarten armed with keen observation skills embarked on a mission to find items that don't belong on our beautiful beaches.
From sizable pieces of plastic and whole water bottles to bottle caps, lollipop sticks, Lego, and polystyrene – they uncovered it all.
Yet, it was the abundance of tiny plastic pieces, microplastics, that caught everyone's attention, particularly in areas where road runoff meets the beach.
This hands-on experience became a powerful lesson in environmental awareness and stewardship for our children.
Together, we can delve into the impact of our actions on the beach ecosystem, emphasising the importance of reducing, reusing and recycling to protect our precious environment.
