DISGUSTING: Police hunt man after multiple, confronting reports of dog being bashed, dragged along a Port Douglas Street

Local Police are this morning continuing to search for a man that was viewed multiple times in person and on camera allegedly strangling and beating a defenceless dog in different areas of Port Douglas yesterday.
One of the highly disturbing, disgusting and very confronting incidents of the alleged dog abuse took place near Port Douglas Hotel on Davidson St around 4.40pm.
At this time the man was allegedly viewed by multiple witnesses strangling and dragging the dog.
Newsport has obtained video footage of the man and dog from yesterday but the footage is too confronting to be published in a public forum.
Port Douglas Police are aware of this footage and continue to search in a bid to find the alleged perpetrator.
“I thank the numerous members of the community who have called the station to make a report about concern for the dog’s safety,” a Port Douglas spokesperson told Newsport just moments ago.
“We are definitely aware of this alleged incident and every effort is being made to locate the potential offender.
“If any member of the public knows the likely whereabouts of this individual there are urged to contact Port Douglas Police station or Crimestoppers.”
The welfare and current health of the dog remains unclear at this very moment.
Meantime, Police said a 45 year-old Wonga Beach has been issued a penalty infringement notice of $928 following an incident at a Cairns nightclub last night.
Police allege the man became aggressive to multiple people at the club as well as security staff.
He was issued with a 30 day banning notice that prevents him from entering the Cairns safe night precinct.
