As usual no benefit to remote areas!!
Angie Pangie
It's because there's no public bus system. Qld govt has forgotten about remote qld regions.

Kids can’t even get 50c school bus trips. You have to live over 3km for primary and over 4km for high school before you qualify for free bus passes.
Andy Thompson
We are on holiday on Magnetic Island and it's 50c per trip on the bus. I know the island is not big but it's a 20k round trip from one side to the other. Me thinks we are getting screwed in the Douglas Shire.
Jody Harkness
People need to realise there is not enough people here to subsidise a government bus run.
Helen Killen
A Mossman to Port Douglas run would be useful. Even up and down Port. Douglas Road. Most workers live 3-5k out so commuter buses would definitely be used. And a Cairns service is needed. I commute to Cairns daily. We're definitely missing out.

Yet again DSC not backing its ratepayers with a “declined to comment on the issue of public transport in the region”.

Build on the other side of the highway on the hills Craiglie is too low and subject to flooding.

The thing is tho with the proposed devellopment, they are all 3 and 4 bed houses. What about the 1 and 2 bedders for the first time buyers and downsizers?
Jack Peterson
Michelle 'Midge' Simone you can build whatever you want if you buy the land.
Bev Rossignoli
The Douglas Shire does not have the infrastructure structure to develop more and council knows this. More schools, more medical facilities, more water, more garbage trucks. Etc etc. well that’s my view anyway.
