Local creatives unite to launch Port Village pop-up shop

Two well-known faces from the Port Douglas Sunday markets, Kelly Yo Filla and Tash Bellero, have taken an exciting new step in their creative journeys by launching a brand-new pop-up shop at Port Village.
The space is a thoughtful blend of their two distinct but beautifully complementary brands: Scents Journey, Kelly’s range of hand-poured candles and home fragrances, and Treasure Inventory, Tash’s collection of hand-drawn paintings, illustrated stationery, and lifestyle pieces.
For years, both women have been regulars at the Sunday markets, gaining a loyal following for their artisanal work.
Now, they’ve joined forces to create a warm, inviting space with its own unique vibe, a space that almost feels more like a home than a store.
“We’d been talking about doing something together for ages,” Tash said, who began drawing as a creative outlet and now has a loyal fanbase for her nostalgic, cottage-inspired style.
“When we moved up here just before COVID, I needed something to pour myself into, so I started selling at the markets. That was eight years ago now.”
Kelly still remembers their first meeting. “She came up to my stall and told me how beautiful the candles smelled. I remember everyone who supported me in those early days.”
Kelly began making candles three years ago, while recovering from burnout, seeking a slower pace and a way to reconnect with what felt meaningful.
Inspired by the natural surroundings of the area, she began creating scents that evoke comfort and calm, a sense of place you can take home.
“Both our products are inspired by the simple joys in life, little moments you want to hold onto and share,” Kelly said.
That emotional connection has earned them a loyal following. They’re known not only for the quality of their work, but for the heart and warmth they pour into it.
“Running a small business has its highs and lows, but having customers who keep coming back, that’s everything,” Tash said.
Both women credit their success to supporting each other.
“It’s not about competition,”Kelly said. “It’s about collaboration. We share the same space, help each other out, and our customers become part of the story.”
