A large crocodile has been filmed playing in the shoreline waves at Oak Beach by a Douglas Shire local.

WATCH THE VIDEO

Avid social media user Dion Brown filmed the about 2m croc while at the beach, situated 16km south of Port Douglas in Far North Queensland.

The croc is seen playing in shallow water before turning around and swimming out to sea.

The State Government reminds people to always stay Crocwise.

Crocodile habitat starts at Gladstone and extends north to the Torres Strait, across Cape York Peninsula and into the Gulf of Carpentaria.

Always keep out of the water, stay more than 5m away from the water’s edge, and keep a sturdy object between yourself and the water.
