Several street power lines fell down in Shannonvale last night, trapping two people in their car.

Paramedics were called to help extricate the pair, but no injuries were reported.

Multiple vehicles were impacted by the downed lines on Shannovale Road just after 11pm, with wind gusts of up to 43km/h and heavy rain recorded in the region overnight.

The occupants of the car were not required to be taken to hospital.

Ergon Energy reminds people, if your vehicle comes into contact with powerlines or any electrical equipment, remember to stay put, call emergency services, and wait for help to arrive.

It is also important for bystanders and well-meaning people to stay well clear, as they can also be at risk of electric shock or fatal injury if they touch the car or nearby equipment.

If you have information for police about this, or any other, incident, contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or crimestoppersqld.com.au.
