Daintree Village traders are concerned the public toilets near the riverfront have been out of action for more than a month.

A visit to the Village by Newsport last week confirmed the toilet was fenced off with temporary fencing.

Local traders said the public loos on the corner of Stewart Street and Dagmar Street had been unavailable for quite some time and they did not know when they would be fixed.

There has been an influx of tourists to the region this week during the Easter and school holiday period.

Douglas Shire Council has been contacted in an effort to find out why the toilets are out of service and when they will be back open.
