Catholic Education Week Celebrations 

The community proudly marked Catholic Education Week under the 2026 theme, "Share Your Light, Inspire Others." The school opened its doors to grandparents and special visitors for a day centered on faith, family, and connection. Guests enjoyed performances by student musicians, joined in on games and learning activities, and gathered for a special liturgy that celebrated the vital role grandparents play in the lives of the students.

Daintree State School

Drama Workshop with JUTE Theatre Company 

The weeks kicked off with a creative residency alongside students from Alexandra Bay State School. Professional artists from The JUTE Theatre Company visited to deliver their interactive "Dare to Dream" program, using live performance and workshops to teach bike and electrical safety alongside acting, improvisation, and stagecraft. The week wrapped up with a live performance by the students for the wider community.

Cultural Exchange with Japanese Visitors 

The learning continued with a visit from Japanese exchange guests, who spent an afternoon making art, sharing local produce, and learning about traditional Far North Queensland games.

QATSIF Indigenous Graduation 

Congratulations to Year 12 students, Tia Bani, Peyton Thorburn, Zahlie Patterson and Alia Walker who attended their QATSIF graduation at James Cook University along with all other QATSIF graduates from Far North Queensland.

The girls were awarded QATSIF Scholarships at the start of Year 11 which provided $500 per semester across Years 11 and 12 ($2000 in total) to assist eligible First Nations students with the costs associated in gaining a QCE (Queensland Certificate of Education), International Baccalaureate (IB), or QCIA (Queensland Certificate of Individual Attainment) for students with a disability.

Tia was also honoured by being presented with 1 of only 3 Queensland Indigenous Family Violence Legal Service Certificates with a Barry Doyle School-based Scholarship awarded across Far North Queensland.  

Year 11 Melbourne Adventure 

Fifty Year 11 students recently returned from an unforgettable trip to Melbourne during the final week of Term 2. The group explored iconic city laneways, enjoyed a formal dinner cruise along the Yarra River, and traveled to Mount Buller, where many experienced snow for the very first time. Accommodation staff and members of the public commended the students for their outstanding behavior, maturity, and pride in representing their school.
