The Muddies Thirds lost comprehensively on Saturday to top-placed Barron River, ending any slight chance they had of playing finals cricket this year.

Winning the toss and batting, the Barron opening bowling combination worked their way on top early to have the Muddies 3/11.

Opener Cam Williams (32) battled on as wickets fell around him, while Tim Dellatore also showed some good signs.

The two batters put on 32 together until Williams was run out to a good piece of fielding while the pair were trying to sneak a quick single.

From there the Crabs fell away to be all out for 75 in the 34th over.

Barron chased the total down easily, finishing 2/76 in the 20th over.

In the final match this Saturday, the Thirds are at home in Port Douglas to the second-placed Mulgrave side on Saturday from 1pm.

On Sunday, the Fourths lost to Mulgrave at Mulgrave.

Winning the toss and batting, the side was dismissed for 50 in the 25th over.

Mulgrave chased down the total in the 16th over with four wickets down.

This week they play Norths at home on Sunday from 12.30pm.

Indoor golf

Finals time has arrived in the Caddyshack indoor golf league.

The Dave and Rhys team finished top of the minor round, while Matt and Joe finished second.

The centre’s Mic Walsh says the top pair scored a “massive” amount of points across the eight rounds.

“Rhys hit some of the biggest drives we have ever seen in the shop and Dave got the nickname "Mickelson" by the end with his short game ability,” he says.

The first finals round is on the back nine holes of US course TPC Sawgrass.

Final Ladder:

Dave/Rhys 207 pts

Matt/Joe 204 pts

Tim/Peter 202 pts

Doug/Jamie 197 pts

John/Peter 196 pts
