Rescue after another car swept off Laura River causeway
Flooded waters
A pair of men were reportedly plucked from near a car trapped in the Laura River by Swiftwater Rescue authorities last night after they were swept off the causeway while trying to cross floodwaters - the second such incident there this month.
Local Phillip Davies today posted a video of the car among the trees about 300m down the flooded river.
“Remember, if it's flooded forget it,” Mr Davies wrote.
“Two people hanging in the trees at midnight to early hours this morning.”
The incident follows a similar one at the same spot earlier in the month, which was captured on video by fellow local Niki Ruker, who lives at a nearby station.
The occupants managed to scramble to safety as the car was washed away, but two cats were reportedly swept away in the floodwaters.
