SPORT DIGEST: Cricket season closes, AFL trial this week
Around grounds
The cricket season finished with a whimper for the Muddies this year, with both games again abandoned on the weekend without a ball bowled.
The Thirds team ended up one place out of the top four in fifth, while the Fourths finished bottom of the table.
AFL Cairns
The Port Douglas Crocs are holding a season launch and jumper presentation on Saturday, March 28, from 5.30pm at Cosmos cocktail lounge.
And, this Saturday, there is a trial match against Cairns Lions at the Croc Pit from 2pm.
Indoor golf
A final ninth round was played to separate the four teams to go into the semi-finals in the Caddyshack Wet Season Indoor League after the fourth and fifth teams tied.
They still tied after the extra round, but, in a strange twist of fate, one team is going away on a golf trip so cannot compete going forward.
Special thanks to John and Peter for their gesture of letting the other team through.
The semi-finals are:
1. Joe/Matt (237pts) v Doug/Jamie (223pts)
2. Dave/Rhys (227pts) v Tim/Peter (225pts)
The semi-finals will be around the back nine holes at Augusta so all teams will have to be at their most accurate to advance.
Teams will play against each other in an Ambrose Matchplay Stableford format.
