Mossman firies got a rude shock on Sunday after being confronted by a rearing snake during a flood-rescue operation.
“You never know what might be lurking in floodwaters,” the Queensland Fire Department stated after the incident.
A person was rescued from the roof of a car near the Foxton Bridge last Saturday night after becoming stranded in floodwaters.
Wildlife carers Tropical Wildlife Rescue said the species was a brown tree snake, which is "mildly venomous but not dangerous".
Queensland police remind drivers: "if it's flooded, forget it".
