Local industry people were invited at Oaks Port Douglas Resort last Wednesday, May 6, for an immersive showcase designed to highlight the venue’s expansive event capabilities.
As businesses increasingly seek out unique off-site experiences, the resort is positioning itself as a premier tropical destination for everything from strategy sessions and leadership retreats to award nights.
To demonstrate this versatility, the resort’s ballroom was transformed into a multi-functional hub.
The space featured a variety of configurations on display simultaneously, including a formal dinner setting, a conference layout, a buffet station, and a dedicated stage, allowing guests to see exactly how the room can be adapted.
While exploring these setups, attendees sampled signature canapés and enjoyed live music, getting a true feel for the resort's hospitality.
Versatile spaces
The display served as a live preview of what can be achieved across the resort’s nine function rooms, which can accommodate up to 200 guests.
General Manager Paul Parrent noted that while Oaks is a go-to for corporate events, it remains a firm favourite for personal celebrations like birthdays.
He highlighted the Lilipad Restaurant, where a wooden deck overlooking a tranquil pond offers a relaxed atmosphere for buffets, and mentioned the poolside area as a vibrant option for high-energy parties with live DJs.
The resort’s commitment to providing a seamless experience is backed by Day Delegate Packages starting at $65 per person and a network of expert partners specialising in audiovisual, photography, and team-building activities.
With 155 rooms on-site, the resort offers a complete “stay and play” package where guests can transition from the boardroom to the lagoon pool or day spa.
Future upgrades
Looking ahead, Mr Parrent shared that the resort is entering a phase of rejuvenation.
Several upgrades are already on the way, including brand-new flooring for the ballroom and the development of a new bridge area, which will create yet another unique outdoor space for events.
