Family calls for privacy following fatal car crash
Police News
The family of a 34-year-old Mossman woman and young child killed in a car accident on the Captain Cook Highway last Friday has issued a plea for privacy so they can properly grieve the tragic loss.
“This is an incredibly difficult and painful time for my family,” the online statement reads.
“We respectfully request privacy and understanding as we navigate this tragedy.
“We are deeply grateful for the compassion, support, and prayers that have been extended during this time.
“We are currently processing and mourning the devastating loss of two loved ones following the incident, we ask for space at this point of time as a family member remains in intensive care in critical condition.”
The family also requested for people not to post any photos or names of their loved ones online.
Police said a white Mitsubishi Triton ute struck a red Mazda MX-5 before colliding with a white MG3 hatchback just south of the intersection with Reynolds Road at Oak Beach.
A 22-year-old passenger was airlifted to Cairns Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Mazda, a 54-year-old Trinity Beach man, and his passenger, a 57-year-old Trinity Beach woman, were uninjured.
