A 28-year-old man has been charged in Douglas Shire with animal cruelty and failing to help a hurt animal following the injury of a husky dog.
Port Douglas police arrested the man following an incident on Saturday, May 2.
The man reportedly injured the husky and did not take her to the vet following the incident.
The dog is now in the care of veterinarians.
The 28-year-old was charged with animal cruelty and the breach of care of an animal by failing to provide assistance.
He is due to appear in Mossman Magistrates Court at an as yet undecided date.
