Port Douglas police have interviewed people in relation to an incident on May 2 involving a husky dog being seriously injured, with public assistance progressing their investigations.

Around 11pm on May 2, officers were called to reports of an incident at a Craiglie service station.

Upon arrival, police located a 28-year-old Port Douglas man and a husky with a significant laceration to its shoulder.

Police seized the husky and transported her to an emergency vet in Cairns for treatment.

On Wednesday, May 6, the husky remained under the care of veterinary staff.

Police made an appeal throughout the past week for anyone with information about the man, or who saw him and the dog around Port Douglas or Craiglie overnight on May 2, to come forward.

It is understood members of the public have assisted police with their inquiries over the course of the weekend.
