Two Dragon teams ready for first kickoff of season
SPORT

The Douglas United Football Club will play host to the Atherton Eagles this Friday night for the first round of the Far North Queensland Soccer League.
The 2021 season is here, and it is time to write the story.
After a year in which the local squad could not reach the finals, soccer always gives a rematch and that will happen this Friday, when the Dragons play the Eagles in their first battle to get the crown back.

2017, 2018 and 2019 were successful times for the club, winning the three successive second Division championships. Unluckily, in 2020, Marlin Coast Rangers stopped the way to a fourth in the semi-finals.
In the last few months, many new players have joined the team along with new coach, Chris Snel, who will be the head outside the field. Inside it, the captain Chris Baker will show the lads the way.
As a result of the new arrivals, it is the first time the Club will field two teams, one in the second division tournament and one in the third.
Wednesday was the last pre-season training session before the start of the competition at the end of this week.
Tomorrow, 9 April, from 6.30 pm, you can go and support both local teams with free entrance and a F&B bar at Port Douglas Sports Complex.
